Kalyana Nagar Association , KNA , a popular  a Socio-Cultural institution situated in Mandavelipakkam, Chennai, India, has been involved in rendering various services to the neighborhood society for nearly six decades. As part of its periodical community awareness initiative KNA  organized a session titled ‘Increasing Cyber Crimes and Preventive measures ’ , to commemorate the Computer Security Day being observed globally on the 30th of November every year.

The session scheduled for the 30th November had to be postponed to the 7th of December,  2025 due to inclement weather at Chennai. However, not dampened by the weather around 80 people including seniors, home makers and retired professionals from in and around the area known for learned people, attended the session of around 90 minutes and made the event a memorable one.

Honoured and delighted to be invited to address the audience on the prevailing cybercrimes, I shared my thoughts on the current trends of cyber deceit like Digital Arrest, APK File fraud, Online investment scam and the ever increasing Phishing attempts. The session laced with constant positive interruptions through useful questions was riveting and the audience seemed to have had their mind full as was evident from the long post session interactions and the request to address them more frequently on such topics, that were made to the President and Secretary of KNA.

I was immensely pleased to share my thoughts not only with the friendly neighborhood but also to many others whom I understood to have come from far off places thanks to the timely posts in popular weeklies like Mylapore Times. When some women senior homemakers informed that they were also at the venue last week despite heavy rain and predicted storm, I felt my goal of Share To Care is reaching the desired target audience and my resolve was made stronger to address more such sessions. The spontaneous and subsequent messages of feedback made my day !
